Terms of the Day for August 29

Bronze Age – a period characterized by the use of copper and its alloy bronze as the chief hard materials in the manufacture of some implements and weapons. Chronologically, it stands between the Stone Age and Iron Age.


Iron Age – is the archaeological period generally occurring after the Bronze Age, marked by the prevalent use of iron. The early period of the age is characterized by the widespread use of iron or steel. Other changes in society also occured, including differing agricultural practices, religious beliefs, and artistic styles.

Paleolithic Era – meaning “old stone age”, a prehistoric period of human history distinguished by the development of the most primitive stone tools discovered and that covers roughly 99% of human technological prehistory, from approximately 2.6 million BC to the final few millennia BC.

Neolithic Era – meaning “new stone age”, a period in the development of human technology at the end of the Stone Age. It is marked by the rise of farming and ended when metal tools became widespread in the Bronze Age.
